The works council is the point of contact for all employees. We advocate for fair working conditions, transparent communication, and respectful cooperation – in dialogue with the workforce, managers, and management.
Good collaboration is created through transparency and mutual respect.
The works council represents the interests of employees to management. It also checks whether the company complies with all applicable laws and collective agreements. For example, that employees do not exceed the maximum daily working hours or that the company adheres to special occupational safety regulations for young people.
Areas of responsibility include, among others, working hours, overtime regulations, leave policies, occupational safety, equal treatment, training, and organizational changes within the company, insofar as they affect employees.
The size of the works council is legally defined in the Works Constitution Act and depends on the number of eligible employees. At Lehmann, the works council consists of nine members. Additionally, substitute members can be elected. The newly elected works council members elect the chairperson of the committee from among themselves.
